Trenton, New Jersey is the capital of the Garden State and is part of Mercer County, in the central area of the state. Several bridges cross the Delaware River: the Trenton-Morrisville Toll Bridge, Lower Trenton Bridge and the Calhoun Street Bridge, connecting Trenton to Morrisville, Pennsylvania.

Sitting in the middle of the Philadelphia-New York City corridor, Interstate 295, Interstate 195 and Interstate 95 serve Trenton. Though recently upgraded, Route 29 in Trenton presents fundamental dangers to motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. This roadway is a high-speed, urban freeway that passes through the center of densely populated residential neighborhoods and accidents are frequent occurrences.
