Life after Being Hit by a Drunk Driver - Steven Benvenisti's Book

Benvenisti, a partner with the New Jersey personal injury firm of Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C., blogs about his new book on the Huffington Post, describing how he fully recovered from a near-fatal accident in 1989 and has since dedicated himself to fighting to end drunk driving.

Teaneck, N.J. (Vocus/PRWEB) January 17, 2013 – New Jersey personal injury lawyer and survivor of being hit by a drunk driver, Steven Benvenisti, discusses his new book, Spring Break: A True Story of Hope and Determination, in a Huffington Post article that has received hundreds of supportive comments and shared stories of the horrific impact of drunk driving.

Benvenisti, a partner of the New Jersey personal injury firm of Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C., is a well-known advocate in the New Jersey / New York area for driving safety. His efforts to prevent impaired driving and underage drinking include a program he has been presenting for 15 years, “The Most Significant Case of My Entire Career.”

This successful program has been presented primarily at high schools to instill in students the dangers of alcohol and also at brain injury conferences to bring hope and inspiration to the many in attendance. Benvenisti does not accept any honorariums for these programs and has donated 100 percent of the proceeds received to many worthy charities.

Benvenisti’s book goes into more detail than his presentation can about his being struck by a drunk driver while walking during a spring break trip in Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1989. Six weeks before he was to graduate from college, a drunk driver’s vehicle crushed his legs and left him in a coma for 10 days. He spent six months in the hospital, enduring 15 surgeries and intense rehabilitation before fully recovering and going on to law school.

Benvenisti opens his Huffington Post article by saying, “I’m proud to have been a personal injury trial attorney for many years.” He adds, “My law practice has been devoted to representing DWI [driving while intoxicated], brain and personal injury victims who have been seriously injured in car crashes and falls. …

“I authored Spring Break: A True Story of Hope and Determination in support of my mission to end DWI and to help as many people as possible, including our returning troops, who are dealing with the silent epidemic of our time: traumatic brain injury (TBI),” Benvenisti says in the article. “Spring Break also provides a secret so precious that it not only saves lives, it guarantees success no matter what the challenge is.”

“To say we are proud of Steven is a vast understatement,” said Garry R. Salomon, managing partner at Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C. “We’re pleased that in addition to the good work he has already done bringing a message about the dangers of drunk driving and the hope of recovery to so many people, Steven can reach many more people through his riveting book.”
