Pedestrian Accident Proves Fatal for NJ FedEx Man

A 43-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a black minivan while working. The pedestrian was a package deliverer for FedEx and was unloading something from the back of his delivery van when the accident occurred.

According to CBS New York, the accident happened in Woodbridge. The FedEx man wasn’t on his normal route but was doing a favor for a coworker. The driver of the black minivan came down Fairview Avenue and hit him.
Witnesses who heard the crash came out of their homes to find the man pinned underneath the minivan which had an elderly driver behind the wheel.

That driver was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he is listed in critical condition. Officials have not ruled out the possibility that the driver may have suffered a medical event, causing him to lose control. But, because no one saw the accident happen but him, their investigation may be delayed by his hospitalization.

Accidents happen. They can happen at any time to anyone. Whether you are in a car in heavy traffic or unloading groceries in front of your home, you could instantly become an accident victim.

While pedestrian accidents frequently end in more serious injuries than car accidents, serious injury and even death are possible no matter what type of vehicle you are in, or if you are on a bike or on foot.

Charges have not been brought against the at-fault driver in this case, according to officials. However, pending the results of any blood tests and the investigation, that is always a possibility.

Most accidents do not result in criminal charges. This doesn’t mean that the driver can’t be held responsible for the damage he or she has caused. Instead of criminal charges, you could be entitled to file a civil claim against their insurance policy.
