Rolin Ganthier, of Jamaica Queens was killed instantly when his motorcycle collided with a pick-up truck on Route 23 in Pequannock this past weekend. According to the North Jersey Record, witnesses said Ganthier was traveling at an “excessive speed” when he rode into oncoming traffic.
Ganthier was on a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle traveling north on Route 23 when he crossed the center lane and entered the southbound traffic. The driver of a Chevy Avalanche saw Ganthier speeding towards him and tried to turn into a driveway to avoid collision. Ganthier hit the truck on the driver’s side causing a minor hand injury to the driver, and his own death.
The accident is still under investigation, according to the Pequannock Police Department, who is being assisted by the Morris County Sherriff’s office.
Determining who is at fault for a motorcycle or car accident can take time. The final determination plays a major role in determining who is responsible for the injuries that occurred as a result.
Motorcycle accidents are often particularly serious, as the rider is extremely vulnerable to serious injury when involved in a crash. Even when the motorcyclist is careful and takes all safety precautions, fatalities are not unusual.
