Over $1 Billion in Verdicts and Settlements

$925,000 Settlement for Teaneck, New Jersey Grocery Store Slip and Fall

Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C. won a $925,000 settlement for a client who was seriously injured after slipping on water inside a grocery store in Teaneck, New Jersey. Partner Jeffrey E. Salomon, Esq., handled the case and worked to show why the dangerous condition should have been addressed before someone got hurt.

The client was shopping for his family and carrying a basket with eggs and bread when he slipped on clear water that had leaked from the roof. Like most shoppers, he was looking at the products around him, not watching the floor with every step. He did not see the water before his foot slipped backward and he landed hard on his right knee and shoulder.

An ambulance took him to Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, where doctors evaluated his injuries and performed CT imaging and X-rays. His treatment eventually resulted in substantial medical expenses.

A major issue in the case was the condition of the store floor. Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C. retained an engineering expert who concluded that the clear water created an extremely hazardous walking surface and that the failure to remove it or warn customers contributed to the fall. The firm also retained an advanced medical billing economic expert who determined that there would be approximately $300,000 in future medical expenses related to the client’s injuries and treatment.

Partner Jeffrey E. Salomon investigated the evidence, identified the responsible parties, worked with experts to support the case, and pursued all available sources of compensation. Their work won the client a $925,000 settlement for the injuries and expenses he suffered.
